A Flashback on my Journey.

When I dropped out of a computer studies college in 2011, I felt very bad because I really had liked want I was studying.
I remember when I first joined Aptech Computer Learning center late , I was so naive I didn't know what to expect but thankfully their program was well planned to cater for a newbie who had no any prior knowledge about computer programs.
I caught up so fast in the hands-on class even though I couldn't afford a computer of my own.
They got us from the very beginning of how modern computers came to be.
 Then Microsoft office applications.
Before that I thought computer was Word ,Excel and PowerPoint but after a month or so at Aptech, I quickly learned that was just a tip of an iceberg.

I was introduced to technologies I had never heard of before. HTML, some CSS , JavaScript, C_programming, Dreamweaver, a drag and drop software for creating websites.
Things were becoming interesting but at that point I realized I needed a personal computer of which I didn't have. I only had access to school computer Labs when it was my schedule. We only had classes three times a week. Each session taking between 2-3 hours.

Even though I had and was learning a lot, I desperately needed a computer to continue practicing what I was reading from the course materials they had provided.

I finished my first semester early 2008 and performed fairly well. I was so impressed with what  I had learned in a very short period of time and couldn't wait to learn more in the next remaining 5 semesters because I had offered an Advanced Diploma in software engineering which was supposed to take me 3 years ( 6 semesters ), little did I know I wasn't coming back.

For those who remember, there was a serious credit crunch in 2008 that affected a lot of people around the world. It affected my sponsor who was living in the USA and he told me : He couldn't fund me at the moment, maybe later when things had stablized.
That's how I dropped out of Aptech not knowing what to do next.

I was young and new in Kampala. I didn't want to go back to Mbale to nothing so I resolved I would stay in Kampala and wait for when things would stablize and I hear from my sponsor in the USA. TO BE CONTINUED.

Gospel Music

Every generation throughout history tends to think that their days
were the best, that is why you will hear them saying " the kids of
these days don't do this,they no long greet,they don't dress well,they
don't do that " you know, Fagil Mandy says some kids don't even know how to walk..
It is just a human nature to admire the past days. However horrible or
difficult they might have been,we will always dig deep down and
remember some of the good moments we experienced. In the bible,we read
that the Israelite while slaves in Egypt, were mistreated by their
masters the Egyptians leaving them with no choice but a severe
miserable life. But even after God miraculously delivered them out of
that bondage, once in a while they wished they had stayed in Egypt
(Exodus 14:11-12).So sometimes it is just hard for us to do away with
our past,we will keep comparing it with whatever goes on in the
present and normally ,in our judgment the past appears to be better.I
mean the kind of food we used to have, the games, the culture, the
music, the list is endless. So recently I have been thinking about our
so called 'gospel' music and I kept wondering ,really what happened to
our music ? The gospel music I grew up eagerly listening to is so
different from what I less eagerly listen to now.Yes the technology
has changed and now we have better productions but I hate to say the
message or lyrics to put it in musical terms has changed from good to
worse .I am not a theologian but remembering what my dear pastor
taught me in that simple church with the most humble people I ever
met,he said the word gospel means Good news, good tidings and I grew
up knowing gospel refers to the good news of Jesus Christ,a message
that points people to God.
As a kid in Sunday school,we used to sing songs that talked more about
heaven than earth.Omubbi talinya ku gali ya yesu,Omuyaye talinya ku
gali ya yesu ( a thief can't go on to Jesus' train,.....)
Amanyi gange gava mu Yesu, wendiva wano amazima silisibula, ewaffe
siwano amazi ewaffe mugulu.(my strength comes from the lord, when I
leave here I won't say good bye, here is not our home, our home is
heaven ) .
we had artists like Fiona mukasa,oh mai,you would hear her songs
everywhere on every occasion ,wedding parties, funerals, church, every
where, they were songs that would get you thinking on nothing else but
God who is in heaven where we knew was our home after here.we had
Betty Namaganda,Robert Ssenyonga,Kirwana mark Africa,Pr George Okudi, l
, limit X.....etc.I don't get to hear these voices any more, the kind of songs
that kept us focused seeing ourselves as sojourners, pilgrims, travelers
reminding us that life on earth is not the end but a transition into
eternity.
Today the Church of christ has been attacked by evil spirits of
individualism and materialism.Today most people are focused on
themselves and what possessions they can gather for themselves.I think
we should not blame them for thinking that way because it is what they
have been taught by their spiritual leaders.Today most ministers
emphasize material gains than a sound relationship with God,telling
people to give offertory so as to receive later, the world is built on
the principal of getting more as you you can but God's way is built on
giving more to him.
You see they say what goes in must come out,if it is individualism
that has been sown in their ears, there is no doubt the same should
come out through the songs they compose because music is an expression
of what is on the inside, what you believe. Most ' gospel ' songs I hear
these days are personal testimonies of how one was poor but now they
are rich,of how they were in the village and now they are in town as
if village is a bad place to be in.Whatever they sing most of it is
about I,I,I ....and earthly possessions .You see musicians are leaders
who influence a great following ,so this kind of music has made us to
get so attached to this world, paying very little attention to God's
purpose for our lives.Whereas we sing about God and Jesus,we believe
and trust him in the context of ' Using Him ' to fulfill our self made
purposes of establishing ourselves on earth with many titles and
wealth instead of surrendering ourselves to him so He can ' use us '.
Some of us after we have used God to gain whatever we wanted to get,on
the last day of our transition to eternity we will find out we have
been running very fast but in the wrong direction .God will just ask
us a question we have heard several times, for what profit is it to a
man ,if he will gain the whole world but lose his own soul ?
Jesus said " I am the way, the truth and the life.No one comes to the
father except through me." so we really need that money, man with money
life can be very nice on earth,we need that house of our own so we
should stop worrying about our land Lords but while pursuing all that
which bring us happiness ,we should not lose sight of eternity ,we
should know that even the richest people need Jesus who is the only
way to eternity .Paul while writing to the church in philipi said "
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for
the interests of others." philipians 2:4.
Let Gospel music be the good news about God's love for humanity ,let
it bring hope to the dying ,those who find earthly possessions a
chasing after wind.Let it bring joy and a divine passionate purpose to
the rich who can't find peace in their wealth.Let gospel music speak
to the poor without wealth to live life without complaining because
these present sufferings can not be compared to the glory that will be
revealed in us.Amen.

Letter to Obama

Omutuzze
  Uganda

To:H.E Barrack Obama
white house USA

Your excellency following your letter which you addressed to Uganda
following the decision that had been made by the lawmakers of Uganda
to criminalize homosexuality,on behalf of my country I would like to
thank you for taking some time to monitor our progress, for the good
book says ' we are our brothers' keepers 'quoting from your
letter,you said.
"That is why I am so deeply disappointed that Uganda will shortly
enact legislation that would criminalize homosexuality,"
Your excellency,we are so sorry to learn that we have disappointed
you,if it is possible please we request that you find a place in your
heart to forgive us,because honestly we did not intend to disappoint
or hurt anybody. How I wish that there was a better way to avoid
homosexuality in our society than enacting a law against it.So since
we can't find a better alternative ,we hate to disappoint you sir,I
hope on this issue we will agree to disagree.
You also said
"The Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda, once law, will be more than an
affront and a danger to the gay community in Uganda. It will be a step
backward for all Ugandans and reflect poorly on Uganda's commitment to
protecting the human rights of its people."

Your excellency,my people and I would like to agree with you that
yes, enacting this law will indeed be a step backward ,but backward
from a wrong path unto a right one.
In the good book we believe in,it is written.
" Stand in the ways and see,and ask for the old paths, where the good
way is,and walk in it;Then you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah
6:16.
For we believe God was wondering what took us too long to decide the
right path, that sex should be practiced in marriage and marriage
between a man and a woman .we believe that sexually God intended them
to be male and female. For he said
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to
his wife, and they shall become one flesh."genesis 2:24.For such a
right,no man should rob from them. And we are just saying ,to force someone
to practice homosexuality ,is violating their natural human right.
Your excellency,in your letter you also said,
"As we have conveyed to President Museveni, enacting this legislation
will complicate our valued relationship with Uganda,"
Your excellency ,I don't see why this issue would go that far,You see
one of your men there in the USA by the name of Rick Warren said
"A journey is always better when shared" .The US and Uganda have been
sharing a journey for a very long time, can't we just make this thing
work without 'complicating' our relationship ?
but anyway,if the cost of this anti gay law is a complicated
relationship ,then I think we will have to pay it,and we will pay it
with joy because we know ,this law will shut up the gates of a fiery
Hell and simplify our relationship with God who is in Heaven.
Your excellency ,I have tried taking care not to use harsh words and
if in any way I have used an inappropriate word,I beg to be pardoned.
Finally I would like to ask for a favor if I may, that if you happen to pass by Utah ,your excellency
I ask that you say Hi to my friends there at the Mormon church not
forgetting those in Virginia. To those in Kansas ,please ask them to
show the Homosexuality community there some love by serving them not
threatening and denying them service.Tell country singer Allan Jackson
that I know Jesus too and I talk to God and I remember this from when
I was young,Hope,Faith and love are some good things he gave us and
the greatest is love.
For God and my country.
Yours Omutuzze

The law

Sin is a condition of the heart.
It is 9 pm and I am going through the news feeds on twitter on my old
out dated smartphone, then suddenly I stumble upon the tweet by NTV
updating on how Museveni has accepted to sign the anti homosexuality
bill after hearing from the experts that gays were not
genetically wired to be that way. After a few minutes, going through the
other social networks I find more tweets and comments applauding the
decision.
at this moment it reminded me of the time the right honorable Rebecca
Alitwala kadaga went to Canada and bravely stood up to defend our
lovely country against those who were trying to undermine our
sovereignty as an independent country, and in part of  her speech she
said

"If homosexuality is a value for the Canadian people, that's not a
problem for us, that's it's issue, but one shouldn't force Ugandans to
accept homosexuality because we're not Canadian citizens," Kadaga said
to applause from the floor.
"We have our problems, they have theirs."
The Uganda Parliament is debating a proposed legislation that seeks
tough penalties for aggravated homosexual convicts.
And you see this bill came to the parliament as early as 2009 as a
private member's bill by Ndorwa West member of parliament David Bahati ,it is one of the
bills which has had a lot of hot debates in and out of parliament,if
you can remember at one time the religious leaders from all the major
denominations had to sign for it be withdrawn from parliament but
still it stayed because it had become a property of parliament. And
yes, after close to five years it is yet to be signed.
So after it has been signed, what will happen? will homosexuality go
away? or perhaps the practitioners will flee to another country,I
don't think so. You see normally the law does not state how a certain
crime should be prevented or done away with,it instead states how a
criminal of a given crime should be punished, the law is just a
reminder of our sins,it does not give any remedy to the problem. It is
in all laws, religious and state that it is wrong to steal, but have
people stopped stealing ? Murder is bad, don't we still have people
killed by one another ? So we are grateful to God that finally we are
going to have a law in Uganda that reminds us that homosexuality is
wrong and punishable but I don't think that is enough.
I don't like people who show me problems ahead without giving me some
of the possible solutions,I want someone who will tell me "
brother, that stage is difficult but don't loose heart, you can do this
or that to get along safely ".
Comedian Keneth Kimuli aka pablo normally says certain things are
called by different people differently, for example on bad morals,a
teacher might say "that is indiscipline",a doctor says "unhealthy",a
lawyer might say "unlawful" while a house wife says "bad manners" but
actually all of them would be saying that something is not good.
So this homosexuality thing, whereas the state says it is criminal ,as
a christian I just say it is a sin,and anything concerning sin,no man
can do away with it in his own ability. However perfect and innocent we
try be,in one way or the other we have always lost the mark breaking
the law ,just that on many occasions we have not been noticed as they always say that you are not guilty until you have been proved so.Some of
us are thieves,adulterous,haters,
fornicators,corrupt
,tribal, selfish, proud et cetera not because we don't know that these
things are wrong ,the fact is we know very well that these things are
wrong and we wrestle day and night to stop doing them,to change our
lives and be good people doing what is right before God and men but we just can't .
The apostle Paul in the good book

Romans 7:15 says " for what I am doing I don't understand, for what I
will to do I do not practice ,but what I hate, that I do"
Sin is a spiritual thing, there is no law, doctor nor prison that can
take away people's sins.It is only God who can break us free from our
sins. The bible says many came to John the baptist inquiring whether he
was the Christ, the bible says one day when Jesus was passing by,John
saw him  and shouted saying
The Lamb of God - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! john 1:29
Now after the Law (bill) has showed us our wrongs (sins),as a wrong
doer You must ask yourself the fundamental question,"what shall I do?" will you hide,or may be
you will stop committing those crimes, will you flee to another country
? perhaps you can't afford that.
Everyday we carry our sins, our burdens on our backs too heavy to bear
as we journey to a certain unknown future, the world reminds us of how
bad we are, sometimes the church does the same  showing us hatred
and we feel lefty alone in a crowded place where we call home. But one
thing is true, that when we confess our sins to God,he is faithful to
forgive us.
1 john1-9.
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
At the cross of his Son Jesus Christ, our heavy over weighted
burdens on our backs, our guilty and shame all are exchanged with his
grace giving us freedom and everlasting peace.

Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever, until now He still says ,"Come".

Acacia mall

Skyline for Uganda's capital Kampala
Kampala's middle class suburbs

A skyline is an artificial horizon that a city creates.A skyline is
said to be the Fingerprint of a city because it is also believed that
skylines can never be the same just like human fingerprints or thumbs
can not be alike. So masaka cannot be like the best town Mbale in the
east.

You know senvo, his excellency the president of the Banana
republic, sorry it was a slip of the tongue, the president of the pearl
of Africa Uganda says Ugandans are lazy and only like to sleep, play
sex,go betting and take alcohol, may be he is right to some extent but
some of us work very hard doing almost every decent work with our
hands only that the returns are not yet realized. But some people are
doing well people are busy investigating, sorry manya investing, you
know english is not my first language, the government just procured
some for me from Bona basoome (UPE) school and so like mayor Seya
sometimes I have a problem differentiating the meaning of words.Anyway
like I was saying,a lot of investments are being made especially in
real estate facilities. Many people have called them mushroom buildings
given the speed at which they are being put up.Among these there are
some very significant ones that are decorating our City's skyline or
you can call it city's fingerprints and if Jennifer Musisi was
electable through ballots,we would see her convincing her voters how
she has built state of the art structures, wabula politicians, they
like ripping from where they have not sowed. You see now no one is
talking about sports, but after one self motivated individual brings a
Gold home you will hear them allover the media houses trying to share
the limelight.Someone described a politician as ' someone who has the
ability to promise something and later come back and explain why they
failed to do it"

Two years ago a contract was made between Mukwano group and Roko
Construction company to put up a premium world class state of the art
shopping mall at Kisementi Kololo called Acacia Mall along acacia
avenue.
After the signing ceremony,Alykhan karmali the managing Director
Mukwano group told the press

" we have an ambition to turn the face of Kampala by constructing one
of East africa's premium shopping malls and offices"
"the construction works will be handled by Roko Construction and a
team of top notch architects and consultants"
Roko construction managing Director Dragomir Lakic said they would
complete the construction works by september 2013
After the appointed time has expired,I bring you the changes in the
air updates on how far the project has reached in pictures.
